Last weekend, she decided she wanted to get that craft project started that she had wanted to do for so long. After unpacking and using the machine all day Saturday, she mentioned it had an usual smell. I reassured her it was probably some "break in" oil getting hot, that it would go away. Nope, the machine just "froze up" tighter than a drum that very same afternoon. After removing the side covers, I couldnt find a single thing out of place, no belts had come off. The drive motor turned the belt, but it just spun on a non-turning pully. I couldnt turn anything by hand to loosen the "jam". So, since it was purchased so long ago, there was no taking it back. Dont waste your money on anything less than $400, made by Singer or Brother (both are made by the same people). We did some research, and at this time, her new Janome DC3050 (under $500) is putting the biggest smile on her face, and that puts a smile on my face and my heart. : )
